    Tour of Loewentheil Early China Photo Exhibition

    Mr. Stephan Loewentheil will provide a private guided tour of the landmark early photography exhibition, “Vision and Reflection: Photographs of China in the 19th Century from the Loewentheil Collection.” Mr. Loewentheil and curator Stacey Lambrow will answer questions after the tour. This historical exhibition presents 120 photographic rare masterpieces created in China in the 19th century. These works of art have never been exhibited before in Beijing. Highlights include the earliest photographs of Beijing, rare magnificent views of Fuzhou and the Min River, majestic landscapes by Tung Hing Studio, and portraits from the late Qing Dynasty.

    About the Collector

    Stephan Loewentheil has been a collector and dealer of rare books, manuscripts, and photographs for more than thirty-five years. He is the world’s leading collector of early photographs of China. His collection of 15,000 photographs, assembled over more than three decades, is the most important holding in the world.
