    Mr. Khalid Malik has been UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China since August 2003. Prior to coming to China he served as Director of the UNDP Evaluation Office and the Chair of the UN Interagency Group on Evaluation in New York (1998-2003) where he worked on reform of the organization. He has also served as UN Representative in Uzbekistan, Senior Economist at UNDP Africa Bureau, and in Guyana, the UN Financing System for Science and Technology and the UNDP’s Asia and the Pacific Bureau. He is the author of recently published “Capacity for Development – New Solutions to Old Problems” and the 2003 Report on Development Effectiveness. Prior to joining UNDP, Mr. Malik did teaching and research at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics and at Pembroke College, Oxford. Born in Pakistan, he was educated as an economist at the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Essex and Punjab.
