China, Taiwan, and Cross-Strait Tensions
China conducted a long series of live-fire military drills after former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan last year. With the current US House Speaker potentially planning another trip to Taiwan this spring, Dr Ling examines the Chinese PLA’s current capabilities. How could the PLA project that strength across the Taiwan Strait? How is Taiwan preparing its defense in response?
About our speaker: Dr Lin Ying-Yu is an assistant professor at Tamkang University in New Taipei, Taiwan. His research interests include the development of PLA capabilities and cyber security issues. He obtained his PhD from Tamkang University at the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies.
